NL introduces truck toll from July 1, 2026

What changes: From July 1, 2026, the truck toll will be introduced in the Netherlands. Owners of trucks, both Dutch and foreign, in categories N2 and N3 (technical maximum mass of more than 3500 kilograms) will then pay per kilometer driven on highways and certain provincial and municipal roads. Every truck must have a working toll device on board.

What changes: In the period from July 1, 2026, to January 1, 2027, an undesirable double taxation will arise for trucks in the N2 sa 0 vehicle category. During this period, these vehicles will be subject to both motor vehicle tax and the truck tax.
