1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using GovToDate (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be communicated by email.
2. What GovToDate is
GovToDate is a regulatory intelligence service. We monitor official government websites, national regulatory bodies, and recognised international institutions across 143 countries and deliver personalised alerts when rules, laws, or regulations change that are relevant to your profile.
GovToDate is an information service only. Nothing on this platform constitutes legal, tax, financial, or professional advice. Always consult a qualified professional before acting on regulatory information.
We make every effort to surface accurate, timely information from official sources. However, we do not guarantee that all information is complete, current, or free of error. Regulatory environments change rapidly and we cannot be held responsible for decisions made on the basis of information surfaced through the Service.
3. Accounts and registration
3.1 Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3.2 Account security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at legal@govtodate.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
3.3 Accurate information
You agree to provide accurate information when registering and to keep it up to date. Profile data you provide (nationality, occupation, life situation) is used solely to personalise your regulatory feed — not to verify your identity or for any other purpose.
4. Subscription plans and billing
4.1 Plans
GovToDate offers paid subscription tiers — currently Advanced, Pro and Expert — plus an optional daily-monitoring add-on, billed per monitored country, available on Pro and Expert. An account without an active subscription is read-only: your existing feed remains readable, but scans and research are not available.
The current price of each tier and of the add-on, the features included, and the monthly scan-token allowance are shown on the pricing page and again at checkout before you pay. Those displayed amounts are the ones that apply to your purchase.
4.2 Billing
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. The price shown is the final amount you pay (VAT not applicable, art. 293 B of the French General Tax Code (CGI)), in your local currency where one is supported and in Euros otherwise. An invoice is available for every payment.
Scan-token packs are one-off purchases rather than a subscription. Purchased tokens are valid for one year from the date of purchase; after that, any unused tokens from that pack expire without refund. They are consumed only after your monthly allowance is used up, oldest purchase first. Your account shows when the next tokens expire. The same applies to packs bought for a business account.
4.3 Trial and refunds
New accounts start with a time-limited Pro trial, granted once per person, with a fixed number of scan tokens and no payment method required. When the trial ends, the account becomes read-only unless you subscribe.
If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us within 14 days and we will investigate. Refunds beyond your statutory rights (see section 5) are issued at our discretion.
4.4 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time, online, from your Account page, using the "Cancel my subscription" function (also linked from the footer of every page). We acknowledge your cancellation notice by email and tell you the date on which the contract ends. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to your paid features until that date. We do not provide pro-rated refunds for unused time, without prejudice to section 5.
4.5 Plan changes
Upgrades take effect immediately; you will be charged a pro-rated amount for the remainder of the billing period. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing period. The daily-monitoring add-on is billed as an additional item on your existing subscription and is cancelled automatically if that subscription ends.
5. Right of withdrawal (EU consumers)
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal (droit de rétractation) when purchasing digital services online. By purchasing a subscription or a scan-token pack, you expressly request immediate performance of the service and acknowledge that once the digital service has been fully performed — including scans already consumed — you lose the right of withdrawal for the performed part (art. L.221-28 of the French Consumer Code). For subscriptions, you may withdraw within 14 days of purchase and receive a refund proportional to the unused portion of the first period. To exercise this right, contact us at the address in the Contact section with an unambiguous statement of withdrawal.
Daily-monitoring add-on — how withdrawal works. Within 14 days of purchasing this add-on you may withdraw, and we refund it:
- if no daily scan has run, we refund the full amount paid for it;
- if daily scans have run, we refund the unused days of the current period.
How the days are counted. Days are counted as whole days from the day the add-on became active on your account, and the refund is the price of the add-on multiplied by the unused days divided by the days in the period. A day counts as used because the service was available to you that day — not because a scan surfaced something. Daily monitoring runs on weekdays, and on many days there is simply nothing new to report; those days are part of the service. Example: you switch the add-on on for a period beginning 1 September and ask to withdraw on 10 September. Ten days are counted as used, whether the first result appeared on the 2nd or the 5th, and the remainder of the period is refunded.
In both cases the add-on stops when the refund is made. After those 14 days, switching the add-on off is a cancellation rather than a withdrawal: it stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, then stops, and that period is not refunded.
The add-on is charged immediately and pro-rated when switched on mid-period; it is not charged when switched on within the last three days of a period, and starts at the next renewal instead.
This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights and does not restrict them. Where both apply, whichever is more favourable to you prevails.

6. Not legal advice
GovToDate provides general regulatory information generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence and grounded in cited official sources. It is not legal, tax, medical, or other professional advice, and no lawyer-client or advisor-client relationship is created by using the service. AI-generated content can contain errors or be out of date. Always verify important information against the cited official source, and consult a qualified professional for decisions that depend on your specific circumstances.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the Service
- Use automated tools (bots, crawlers, scripts) to access the Service without our prior written consent
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service to third parties
- Attempt to circumvent any access restrictions, rate limits, or security measures
- Upload or transmit malicious code or interfere with the Service's infrastructure
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.
8. Scan tokens and fair use
Actions you start yourself — a manual scan, a live search, a deep research request, a custom-topic analysis — consume scan tokens. Each paid plan includes a monthly allowance, which resets at the start of each billing period; additional tokens can be bought in packs, valid for one year from purchase. Scheduled automatic scans do not consume your tokens.
The allowance for your plan and the cost in tokens of each action are shown in the application and on the pricing page. We reserve the right to introduce additional fair-use policies if usage patterns negatively impact service quality for other users.
9. AI-generated content
The Service uses AI models (Google Gemini, via Vertex AI inside the European Union) to analyse regulatory content and generate summaries, alerts, and research responses. AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information.
We present AI outputs as informational summaries only. You should independently verify any information before relying on it for decisions with legal, financial, or professional consequences.
10. Intellectual property
10.1 Our content
All software, design, text, and compilations on the GovToDate platform are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute them without our written permission.
10.2 Third-party sources
Regulatory content sourced from government websites and public bodies remains the property of those institutions. We surface this content under applicable fair use and public-interest principles. Links to original sources are provided wherever possible.
10.3 Your profile data
You retain ownership of the profile information you submit. By providing it, you grant us a limited licence to process it solely for the purpose of personalising and delivering the Service to you.
11. Disclaimers
GovToDate's trusted-source database brings together official government and regulatory websites from many countries. These websites evolve constantly, and our source list grows more exhaustive over time. Some answers cannot be found on official websites — either because our database does not yet include the right source, or because official sources do not cover certain specific situations at all. In those cases, contacting the competent regulatory body directly is the reliable way to obtain more information. We always recommend opening the cited sources and verifying the validity of the information provided: GovToDate is a tool built to research regulatory topics faster, not to give you a definitive answer.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Any information surfaced is accurate, complete, or up to date
- The Service will meet your specific requirements
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the statutory guarantees owed to consumers, including the legal guarantee of conformity.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GovToDate and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including but not limited to:
- Decisions made on the basis of regulatory information provided by the Service
- Missed or delayed regulatory alerts
- Loss of data, revenue, or business opportunity
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €50, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
13. Third-party services
The Service integrates with third-party providers including Supabase, Stripe, Resend, Tavily, Cloudflare, and AI providers. Your use of these providers is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the conduct of third-party services. The current list of processors is set out in our Privacy Policy.
14. Termination
14.1 By you
You may delete your account at any time from the Account page. Deletion is permanent and removes all your personal data within 30 days, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
14.2 By us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account with or without notice if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we discontinue the Service. In the event of discontinuation, we will provide reasonable advance notice and pro-rated refunds where applicable.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by French law. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise. If you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring proceedings before the courts of your own place of residence.
Before initiating formal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us at legal@govtodate.com to resolve any dispute informally. We will make a genuine effort to respond within 14 days.
If you are a consumer, you may refer a dispute free of charge to a consumer mediator after a written complaint to us has not resolved it. The competent mediator is named in the Mentions légales (legal notice).
